Relationship between polymorphism within Peptidoglycan Recognition Protein 1 gene (<i>PGLYRP1</i>) and somatic cell counts in milk of Holstein cows

Abstract Bovine peptidoglycan recognition protein 1 (PGLY RP1) is an important receptor that binds to murein peptidoglycans (PGN) of Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria is, therefore, involved in innate immunity. The SNP T>C rs68268284 located the 1st exon PGLYRP1 gene was identified by PCR-RFLP method a population 319 Holstein cows. Somatic cell count (SC) measured 7–10 times each three completed lactations investigate whether polymorphism associated with SC. Using GLM model, it found cows TT genotype showed significantly lower somatic counts than those CC during first lactation (P = 0.023). Moreover, 1–2 1–3, reveal SCC CT heterozygotes, at P 0.025 0.006, respectively. Computer-aided analysis could modify PGLY RP1 functions because mutated residue domain for binding other molecules.
